ABOUT Center Overview & Background

Three Areas of Focus

Defense, Strategy & Geopolitics

Examining how mineral dependencies, supply-chain disruption, strategic competition, and economic coercion can affect military readiness and national security. Research includes defense supply-chain security, strategic material readiness, mineral diplomacy, irregular warfare considerations, and global mining and trade dynamics.

Technology, Processing & Capital

Examining the technologies, processing capabilities, and investment required to transform mineral resources into reliable sources of supply.
This work connects technical challenges with mining investment, project finance, processing capacity, and the commercial realities involved in bringing projects into production.

Geology, Extraction & Mineral Economics

Understanding where strategically important resources exist, how they can be developed, and the geological, technical, and economic conditions that determine whether those resources can become reliable sources of supply.
