Modeling Spotted Lantern Fly (SLF) Distribution and Estimated Species Expansion on USMA

• SLF population has been rapidly increasing in recent years. It has recently been identified as a potential source of environmental degradation and negative economic impacts across the United States, although the full extent of these effects remains uncertain.
• Cadets establish a methodology for surveying nymphs and adult Spotted Lanternflies, predicting future outbreaks, and modeling spatial distribution.
• Focus on West Point and Black Rock forests • Help inform the West Point arborists
• USDA, and National Forest Service also interested in this data
• Opportunities to connect research with ERDC AIAD.
