Automated detections of Amphibians on DoW installations using the BirdNET algorithm

• Military installations can serve as refuges of intact critical habitat for numerous animal species, many of which can be indicators of environmental health.
• DoW lands support 87+ species of frogs and toads, of which six are listed under the Endangered Species Act.
• However, as more of such species become of conservation concern, it is important land managers maintain up-to-date and complete information regarding at-risk species and their habitats on military lands and, through proactive management
• Cadets on this project will:
- Deploy Automated recording Units for 2026-27
- Annotate anuran acoustic data from 2025-26
- Train and evaluate a machine learning model
