USMA Watersheds & Lake Management

Lusk Reservoir, Round Pond, and Lake Popolopen are critical to West Point’s water supply, training landscape, and ecosystem health. This project examines how watershed processes, land use, and management decisions shape water quality and long-term resilience across USMA water bodies.

• Informs USMA DPW & natural resource managers
• Strengthens installation water resilience Cadets on this project will
• Collect, analyze, and visualize watershed characteristics and stressors affecting USMA lakes and ponds
• Use remote sensing technologies and field observations to evaluate lake health and restoration strategies
• Provide recommendations for sustainable lake and watershed management
• Looking for a team of 2-3 Cadets.
